Flash teaser

A little teaser for a Flash photo manip Im screwing with - I used the new 52 flash text as a base to build off of. Oh how I wish DC would focus on doing separate movies of key JLA characters first.

Cursed Mountain: Book 1 Digital Release

I recently contributed inks to the first 22 pages of Cursed Mountain: Book 1 - which you can check out by buying a digital copy via amusedom. Had a blast working with Brett's pencils, and dig how the book came out.

This was the first time I've inked over another artist's work as extensively, and If my schedule would have allowed it - I certainly would have contributed more. Excited to see what Brett and Chris have in store for Book 2.

RIV's Sharpie Sketch Drive! - from Oct. 30 - Nov. 30

I have ten slots available till Nov.30th for sharpie sketches starting at only $10!

All you have to do is send me an email or leave me a message in the comments below. Give me your name, what you want, and whether its a headshot or full character sketch. Your name will be entered onto my sketch list, updated weekly here and my deviant art profile. Slot positions are first come first serve on the sketch list. You don't have to pay for your sketch immediately, but pre-payers will automatically be boosted up further on the sketch list.

You will know when it's time to pay when your status on the sketch list changes from "in progress" to "completed". An email notice will also be sent to you. After you pay via paypal, a high-res file of your sketch will be sent to you electronically. You will have up to a week to complete payment. Non/late payers will be banned from participating in future sketch drives.

90% of the proceeds from this are going directly to my girlfriend, Sherrie - who is recovering from breast cancer.

COVEN - Coming Soon!

Look at all of them tumbleweeds! Time to pour some excitement on this blog!

Juicy, refreshing, excitement. . .

*drip drip*

Ok, now allow me to explain my absence.

So, a few months back I started inking some pages of my buddy Brett Strong's comic "Cursed Mountain." Shortly after that, Dark Ink Pictures' Creative Director, and Coven writer, Chris Rizzo approached me about providing all of the artwork for the first book in their ongoing series. Coven is set in WW2 during Germany's occupation of France, and has a healthy dose of action, intrigue, drama, and mysticism.

After weeks of concept design work, and blocking, Im currently working on the interior artwork. The project so far has been a good push for me to focus on my sequential art, since it's been over 10 years since I last attempted it.

I'll be posting more of what I can soon. So keep checking back. For more about both "Coven" and "Cursed Mountain" check out Dark Ink Picture's official website.

Avengers 101

This Fan-edit of all the Avengers trailers, and scenes alluding to the teams formation (In Ironman, Ironman 2, Hulk, Thor, Captain America) is nothing short of genius. If this doesn't get you pumped, nothing will.

Two-Face

Ben 10: Alien Force

I recently took part in Battle-Artist Season 2, Battle 03. The subject matter was Ben 10. Never seen the show, so I did a bit of poking around on wikipedia and watched a few clips on youtube for reference. After narrowing down the characters I wanted to focus on, I started out sketching in photoshop.
Once I was happy enough with the rough sketch, I began inking on a new layer while adding extra details where needed on my sketch layer.
The spacey background was achieved by using the airbrush set on dissolve, then adding dots for the brighter stars.
After that was the most boring part of the whole ordeal - laying down flats. But nice, crisp flats equal a quicker, and more fun process while rendering the rest out.
Battle-Artist is a pretty dope idea. If you want to get into some friendly competition, and challenge your skills, it's a fun exercise.
If I could, I'd be in it every week...but for now I'll just try whenever I can.

Shockingly fun Batman fan film. . .with nipples!

Now I know the cheesy, nipple ridden Schumacher Bat-flicks almost destroyed the franchise (Thank God for Nolan). But this 12-minute fan film called Death Wish - which uses those nipped out costumes, is much closer in tone to the comics then those awful movies. Really. You should check it out. It's dark with some mild humor here and there, and gives the impression of a larger "Bat-family" like the comics. I for one wouldn't mind seeing a Batman tv series in this vain. With a bigger production value and a better sounding batman of course. Also - somebody please sand those damn nipples off the suites! It's distracting!

Bleez

My attempt on the hottest Red Lantern to spit some rage, Bleez. Here's a quick breakdown from start to finnish.
You've probably noticed that I managed to forget her ring all the way to the coloring stage. Quick mask tool to the rescue! Very handy when patching up line work this far into it.
A couple of hours and passes with the brush and lasso tool later - presto!
